Chesterfield Construction Trades Network
« on: March 01, 2013, 04:35:15 PM »
The aim of the Chesterfield CTN is to bring together all the local Chesterfield construction trades and suppliers to the construction trade sector in Chesterfield, to work together as a town to generate more business and to help stimulate the local economy, through the construction sector.

Meeting regularly on the last Friday of the month, the CCTN will often  include short construction related presentations together with opportunities to promote your business and services.

In addition, members can receive free business advice clinics as well as informal networking time to help you form invaluable local construction connections.

Construction Trades need to network with each other and build relationships with other local construction companies in order to improve their offering, to win more business, and to grow.

About the Chesterfield Construction Trades Network

The Chesterfield Construction Trades Network was established in January 2012 with the aim of bringing together all local construction trades and suppliers to work as a town to generate more business and help stimulate the local economy.

Meeting regularly on the last Friday of every month, the CCTN will include short construction related presentations, opportunities to promote your business and services, free business advice clinics and informal networking time.

The following ‘pointers’ may give you a better insight into how the CCTN will function, but we are always open to suggestions, advice and additional assistance:

1.   Inter Business Networking
Not often a normal or familiar method for many trades people to find business, but when you think about it, no different to being in the pub, or at a football match, for example and chatting to someone and finding a business opportunity.

The events will mainly involve informal networking and chat rather than sit down round the table discussions, where everyone is expected to do an ‘Elevator Pitch’. Speakers may be invited along if it is felt appropriate, or is requested by attendees, but in the main it will be a general networking forum with people able to meet each other, or discuss specific issues with the support organisations (see below). The support organisations will also help to facilitate the networking by introducing trades people to each other.

2.   Membership Fees/Charges

It is intended that there will be NO Membership Fees charged (possibly a small charge on the day for attendees to cover refreshments – advance notice of this would be given), so people do not feel obligated to attend each month.

3.   Business Advice

The facilitators of the network are all involved in areas that regularly support and advise trades people and companies. They will be on hand to offer informal advice, assistance and answer questions, whilst helping to facilitate the networking function through introductions. Please feel free to contact us in advance if you wish us to help you with any specific introductions.

4.   CCTN Facilitators
Include but will not be limited to:
Learning Unlimited / Chesterfield College – Construction based Training, Apprenticeships and Funding.
Destination Chesterfield (‘Chesterfield Champions’) – Promoting Chesterfield and link to Local Authority
Hammond & Associates – Business Services including Accounting, Funding and Business Support Services
SM4B – Online Social Media and Marketing / Websites
PK Group – Green Deal (new Government Energy Efficiency programme)
Peak FM – Radio Advertising
Derbyshire Times – Newspaper Advertising

Other support organisations will be sourced as attendees request/require, but are likely to include IT Services, Safety Wear, Office Supplies etc. All organisations will be based in Chesterfield/NE Derbyshire with the aim of

“Keeping the Local (Chesterfield/NE Derbyshire) £ in the Local Area (Chesterfield/NE Derbyshire)”.

Other businesses/organisations interested in helping to facilitate the events should contact: networking@ChesterfieldCTN.co.uk

5.   Online Media
A Website, Facebook Page, Twitter, Linked In and YouTube presence will be created and used to promote attending businesses and forthcoming events, as well as providing an on-line networking forum and community.

www.facebook.com/chesterfieldctn
www.twitter.com/chesterfieldctn
www.youtube.com/chesterfieldctn (Not live yet but will be soon)
www.linkedin.com/groups/Chesterfield-Construction-Trades-Network-4839584/about

6.   ‘Delegate’ Driven
The delegates/businesses attending will be able to drive the organisation in the direction they require. Unlike other networking organisations, the CCTN is not designed to be ‘owned’ by any one individual, business or organisation, or set up to ‘make a profit’ for anyone. It is a collaboration of individuals, businesses and organisations that is driven and directed by feedback and input from the delegates attending and contributing both through the meetings and online interaction. If it is successful, all those involved in facilitating the network will see an increase in business through their networking that should more than justify any involvement, time and input.

If you require any further information or wish to discuss the CCTN with us, then please contact us at networking@ChesterfieldCTN.co.uk or via any of the social media websites.
