Labour sets out who they will help
« on: September 23, 2013, 07:23:03 PM »
Just been reading about the Labour conference and must say I agree with a lot that they are saying:

Free Childcare worth £5,000 a year for working parents who had kids aged 3+4. I support any policies that are focused on the young - one of the most ignored groups by politicians.

Labour committed to Sacking ATOS from WCA assessments if they win the election - about time too - Atos have blood on their hands as far as I can see.

Also there was a pledge to reverse the Pension Tax relief that the Tories gifted to millionaires and to reverse the Tory tax cut for Hedge Funds. They can afford it, whilst a lot of the poorer members of society can't.

Ed Miliband vowed to increase the fine levied on firms who break the law by not paying the Minimum Wage by 1000% to £50,000. We have enough criminals in this country without businessmen thinking they are above the law just because we have a Tory government.

The Pension Tax relief and the tax cut for Hedge Funds, when reversed, should pay for lots of changes like these.

Off topic, but... ;) they recently published pictures of individuals the taxman is chasing for tax evasion and avoidance - none of 'em looked like left wingers to me. :)

Just to provide a balanced end to this post; I hope that Labour will be just as tough on benefit cheats - these b*stards have been winding me up all my life, under governments of both persuasions.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Thanks for the update Pete. Only bit I did here was that there are some policies the Tories have set up that they can't alter.I hope they carry on with the getting back to work for the scroungers though as it is a valid policy by the Tories in my book. Maybe catch up with it tomorrow in the papers
