Didn't know a lot about them so had a quick look on Wiki

Been on the news that someone has lost £4M because he left them on an old hard drive which he eventually threw away and then realised how much value they had gained.

Not really clear how the currency gets started in the first place but I suppose it's a scaled down version of how a country's currency works
