Good news for Derby folk. Been hearing about it lots.
I travel to Derby twice a day now and have BBC Radio Derby tuned in.
What I can't understand is why they didn't get the other contract in 2011.
Siemens, a German company did. ??

Bombardier is a Canadian company. They laid off 400 workers in Derby after losing the Thameslink contract. They're now going to take on up to 340, net loss at least 60 jobs.

Siemens has 12 manufacturing sites in the UK, including one at Derby. They employ 13,760 people. They've been here since 1843.

I didn't know that, I know they do a lot of work on traffic lights in the UK.
