Supermarkets slashing prices

Im sure we've all seen the adverts for supermarkets being cheaper than others, namely Asda showing its cheaper than the other big 3.

However this begs a question.  Lets say for arguments sake that Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons sell eggs at £1.50 for a pack of 12.  If Asda sell them at £1.25, does that mean the supplier gets less money for what he/she produces?

Probably yes. It's why we won't   'Price Match' on own brand products a) because ours are nearly always of far better quality and b) because we prefer to deal equitably and ethically with suppliers. We are the biggest stockists of 'fair trade ' products in the world. No that's not a misprint I do mean the world. We won't take risks with people's health or with the quality of what we supply. Which is why we have higher levels of waste than any other supermarket. It's also why when there are scandals round things like horse meat we are very rarely involved. Finally if any of the consumer programmes start talking about pricing cons etc we again are very rarely involved. Yes all the above costs which is why we can be perceived as being more expensive. But quality and integrity mean we retain customers and continue to increase market share

Yeah I love it when these so called experts speak. Notice ours fell by 0.4% (actually it didn't if you take new build into account but don't let the truth stand in the way of a good story) and we are in crisis. But T**** can drop 1.1% and they are still in 'better shape' than we are.
