Stonebroom Benefit Fraudster Sentenced
« on: April 05, 2012, 07:37:06 PM »
I saw this story on the Chesterfield Post website - and it got me wondering.

This woman was watched for 13 months and claimed £5,237 - which begs the question, why didn't they arrest her sooner? 13 months?

Also, her sentence was a 12-month community order, was ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and to pay £50. Seems very light sentence for basically a £5,237 theft.

Or am I missing something?

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Lol aye.
It remains to be seen how on earth she was able to get the money for that long. I know they were watching her etc but did they really need it to go on for 13 months?
It gives people like myself a bad name. The sooner i get a job the better

I guess it musy have taken them that long to collate enough evindence to catch her, and be able to prove it in the Courts.
There must be many more that continue to get away with it though >:(

Emmz - how do you know so many get away with it? Do you know someone who is getting away with it? If so, there are some useful links http://www.dwp.gov.uk/benefit-thieves and http://www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk/report-benefit-fraud
