>> I think the vans stand out a lot better than they used to.

Why do they need to stand out - its not a commercial enterprise?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Very good point Pete!

But no harm in showing that there are plenty of people around tidying up grassed areas, repairing houses etc

What are those links about?

Failed attempt at humour.
Global Corporation's, taking over and re-branding Chesterfield.

True. But show Chezzy's Spire, not zig zags.

Although I lampoon the signs above, I think there's more to this town than a particularly shite piece of ecclesiastical architecture, and I'd be pleased by any effort to "sell" the other good things that we have here.

Comparing the printed DT news item entitled 'Sign sparks Facebook row' (page 5, April 19) with the on-line version on the DT website, there's a revealing paragraph missing from the newspaper:

He added: “Tell us where he lives and i’ll(sic) Google it [and] find something negative to say about the place.”

The 'He' in question (underlined) is Cllr Burrows. If correctly reported on the web site, I find that an incredibly childish reaction from the leader of the town's council - perhaps it's time for some gardening leave...

Methinks Mr Burrows should grow up and leave comments like that in the playground where they belong.

Good find Dave.

DT do seem to drag up the same people who have negative comments to say on their Facebook page, think one of them posts (or used to) on Chesterfield Forum

Interesting letters page in the DT this week - "Is nobody big enough to admit signs are a mistake?"

As I drove through town yesterday I noticed that everywhere the new 'swoosh' was used, it was backed up by the crooked spire logo - in the museum windows, on the 'Bin it' banners, on council vans. Everywhere, that is, except on the 'Welcome to Chesterfield' signs.

Grow some, Cllr Burrows and admit you blundered.
