Pope's butler sentenced to jail

Pope Benedict's former butler, Paolo Gabriele, has been sentenced to 18 months' jail for stealing his employer's private correspondence.

Shock! Horror!

Pity he wasn't a pedophile - he would have gotten away with it then...   :o

Why sentence him, then issue a possible pardon. To keep him quiet  q?
