Parking ticket issued for parking on a taxi rank ;-)
« on: October 26, 2012, 07:47:41 PM »
This Merc parked on the taxi rank today. It got a ticket  ;)

I was there when the driver came back to the car and drove off.
He quite nonchalantly ripped the ticket off the window, got in, and drove off.
His lack of, 'anything', stirred me slightly. Is he rich, can he afford the ticket, does he care ?

NO. THE CAR AIN'T INSURED !! Probably not even the drivers car !!

So this beggars the question. When we had traffic wardens, they would have done a PNC on the car before ticketing it.
The new bread of parking officers don't. They just issue tickets with the profits going to {somewhere}.
Thus allowing illegal drivers to get away with other motoring offences.

Yes pot calling kettle here, but the driver should have been stopped from driving the vehicle away.
HE, might have been insured to drive the vehicle, but shouldn't the owner hold insurance for it as well ????

The company I work for is in partnership with Sheffield City Council

The parking company is run by Sheffield City Council

Guess what, we still get tickets so in effect they are billing themselves!

Recent new laws state, If you own a car, you must have insurance for it.
This car isn't insured.
Yes Simon, I agree the new parking rules can be a bit, let's say, different LOL

Would that be the £35,000 Lexus.
Apparently, regardless of the political party in charge.

How do you know it's not insured?

If the police had clocked this car with ANPRS systems, it would have been towed away to somewhere secure until such time as the owner could prove that they had insurance for it. The owner has to go to the Police station with the appropriate documentation to secure the release of the car.
Then go to the place where it has been stored. And pay their storage fees (goes up for every day stored).
Uninsured drivers usually get 6 points on their licensce, and a fine, which makes their future insurance premiums a lot higher I guess.
If it was uninsured it should have been towed away - no question.
You don't know if it's stolen - etc, classy car, but, nontheless illegal.
Should have been removed by the Police MD

Years ago CBC sold the prestige plate (think it was 1R) for enough money to replace the car. May have been worth a lot more now bur good business at the time.

Don't know what type of car it was , not really that good on car models, but the driver pushed a ticket inot the barrier slot and it lifted up. Just had a thought, can yearly tickets be purchased? I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion?????

I'm sure Cllr Slack can help you with your enquiry. He can probably describe the 'ticket' pushed into the barrier in some detail as he undoubtably posseses one very similar.

No, mine only has to be held near the reader

You might not believe me but I've never parked in the Town Hall car park for a prolonged visit to town
