I went into "Vomit" once for a fridge-freezer. I found just the one for me on display.

"I'm sorry, we haven't got that in stock, but we've got one similar that's £50 more..."

"Can't you sell me this one?"

"We can't sell that - it's for display."

"Cheerio, then."

Several months later, I went in for a telly.  I found just the one for me on display.

"I'm sorry, we haven't got that in stock, but we've got one similar that's £50 more..."

"Can't you sell me this one?"

"We can't sell that - it's for display."

"Cheerio, then."

It struck me that they were putting things on display that they had no intention of ever selling, just to hook people in, before offering them a more expensive alternative. so I stopped going in after that.

I said 'Where is he then'?

Years ago when Comet where opposite Vicar Lane, Yup, years ago  :(
I went in to buy a car stereo. Sorry we haven't got that in stock.
Can I buy that one, do I get a discount. Yes sir, how about a fiver off the sale price.
Got it for £30, not £35   :)

How times change  ;)

Just read that it's gone into administration - 6,500 jobs threatened.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
