Help! Laptop not working
« on: December 18, 2012, 03:58:56 PM »
Does anyone know what the problem might be with daughters laptop please.
Have tried everything, taken battery out and put back in, unplugged all cables - it's still coming up with a load of gumph and I can't get into it.
Part of it is saying 'media failure, check cable - operating system not found?
I have no idea what's gone wrong.  :(

Defo a hard drive problem, that's where the Operating System lives.

You need a boot cd to get into the lappy and find out if the Hard Drive has crashed, or failed.
I've got a disk that will do the job, if you know what you're doing. Trouble is, getting the disk to you.

Or you could bring the lappy to me in town and I can take it home to have a gander for you.

Nad says her ex would go over maybe tomorrow and look at it if we could borrow the disc (that's so kind of you thank you).
Would be be in Chesterfield tomorrow at all?

Hi OC, posting this from the your lappy.
It still needs a few updates, but it works and is connected to my home wireless network.
For those not in the know, I met OC in town this morning, and picked up her lappy.
The lappy was defunct, it's working now. And yes it was a hard drive failure.

Next step, screen resolution, this one is god awful. !!
It's about 600X380 LOL  :))

Now hows this then. Pam's just text me, thanking me for sorting the lappy out.
I've not sorted the screen resolution out yet Pam, getting there, and posted from your lappy :-)
