Plans for New Market Hall Get a Good Kicking
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:06:39 PM »
The DT has a feature about the new Market Hall today - complete with artist's impression of how it will look.

But the article reveals the local opposition's opinions.

Me? I'm all for it - if we have a Market Hall, and we should considering we are a famous market town, then I think it should the mutt's nuts. IMHO of course.

Anyone else seen any plans/illustrations?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Just 'my' thought's about the all new whistle and bell's market hall.
Who's going to be able to afford the rent for fresh meat, fish, stalls, Tesco ???

Do they have these facilities in the precinct Tesco's ?

Also For it..... lets move forward... chesterfield has a good reputation in using
old buildings to ' A Modern Advantage.
I'm sure this kind of thing would help to pull the shoppers/visitors in.
I would also like to the outdoor market covered, in such a way that the
existing ' Open Air ' feel, would still be evident.

You all know That Chesterfield is the ' Market Leader '  ::)  in this kind of development.

Been there, done it.
In the 70's the plan was to knock down the market square and the hall, Mum got up a campaign to oppose it, so many people opposed that the Councile changed their mind.
