That's the article I put on iChesterfield earlier this week, but I didn't have photo.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

In our current situation all councils should be looking towards anything that is cost effective I don't see the need for a new building if the old one can be re-vamped cheaper.

I doubt it can.
Don't forget that the Sports centre might be a recent addition (mid 80's) the pool has to all intents and purposes been there since the late 60's.

1968 / 1987

We used to go across to Sutton before it opened (unless it was hot enough to brave Markham baths)

Pools need to be 25 or 50m for competitions, QP is 33 & a third.

Back when the pool was built it would have been 50 yards!!
Of course the reason it was built at such a strange length is because the council of the time wanted to DISCOURAGE it being used for competitions to the detriment of ordinary swimmers.

I always thought it looked bigger than the one in Clay Cross. When she was well my daughter was in the Rykneld swimming club and they held races there

Where do they hold the schools' sports days these days?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Sports days?

Newbold C of E priimary has a field at the back of it, but I've never heard of the senior school doing a sports day.

Not that I'm old and out of touch but... I remember when all the local schools competed in a sports day thingy. Don't they do that these days?
