Speaking at a British business lunch in Davos on Friday shortly after the release of figures showing the economy was again contracting, the mayor of London said it was time to "junk the rhetoric of austerity" and instead take steps to boost confidence and spending.

At last! A Tory politician gets it! That magic word I've been banging on about for over two years "confidence".

>> He has a point.

But he's late to the party - he should've asked me two years ago!  :P

Now of course Mr Clegg is saying they cut too deep too soon.
Isn't that what the Labour party waned against at the time?

Perhaps they could spend some of that 8.5m putting a few more appropriately placed taxi ranks in town.
Then, instead of driving round the block all day cos there's no rank space, we might stop contributing to CO2 emissions by using a little diesel.

At the last count there were 180 Hackneys in Chesterfield, and 7 rank spaces  ::) ::) ::) ::)

But you say there are too many taxis than is needed and lots stand all day with little work to go round, or I have I got that wrong? Is it that people would rather catch the bus than walk to a taxi rank?

Too many taxis, not enough ranks spaced around town.

Ideally, a taxi rank outside the registry office would be good.
If people got bored waiting for a bus, there's the taxis  ;)

TBH Pete, I haven't got a clue what 'austerity' means. Political wise.
People keep banging on about it. I can't be bothered to google it  8)

Actually joking aside that's not a bad point.

Cos the last Liberal crew didn't listen. Neither did the, now Labour crew.
They just kept taking revenue regardless from wanna be taxi drivers.

When was the last time last time the Tories held the Town Hall.
I might actually press the like button if they do something for me  ;D
