What they 'thought' they could do wasn't realistic Pete, even a low life peasant like me could see that.

Instead they have created a multitude of people and organisations who are more against them than they were Maggie.
Lets remember it's not just the peasants who are revolting it's also the organisations, such as RNIB, Mind, Welfare Rights all of who are in touch will the reality of what has been done.

If we lose the NHS, our country is no more, we have been proud of it and how we have recieved care unconditionally.
I think the system has let the nurses and doctors down over the years and now they seem to be in disaray, the carings gone out of it because they haven't the time to care - only to fill in paper work.

We will be like America - if you have money -  you live - if you don't  you die.
Is this really what our fathers and grandfathers fought for, to see their future families brought down to this

They are taking the 'Great' out of Britain.

Excellent post! But I will give you my five bob's worth on two things:

>> even a low life peasant like me could see that.

Don't say that. You are an ordinary member of the public and have equal rights under UK law - you are not "low life" as the Cons keep implying, or "plebs", or whatever vile remarks the Cons use (see CF for examples).

>> If we lose the NHS, our country is no more, we have been proud of it and how we have recieved care unconditionally.

Which is exactly why we should fight, by any means we can, to keep our NHS, something that most countries envy us for. Yes, its a bit scrappy round the edges - but at heart it is a fine achievement by the Labour government after the 2nd world war and the efforts of the majority of doctors, nurses and technicians who make it work.

We should use every opportunity to fight, protest and demand as often as we can. When you see a chance to protest online it only takes seconds, but the potential to make a change is massive if everyone who agreed with it just took two minutes to add their names. I have done this many, many times and have seen policy changed because the outcry was so large.

OK. Is one enough? I'll have spend some time in my email trash as when I get transient stuff like that I tend to delete after reading.

Coming from a miners family I think that is how we are being viewed.
Well we pay our way here so I suppose we are fortunate to be able to.  ;)

Anyway I quietly keep fighting for a fare deal in all of this mess and the more that do, eventually I would hope that someone will listen   ::)

We shouldn't just sit back and moan eh  ;)

Change.org

Peter -

We did it!

Iain Duncan Smith will be held to account for his misuse of Government statistics.

Last month Iain Duncan Smith told journalists that one million people are claiming benefits yet able to work. The problem was it wasn't strictly true.

That's why 96,666 people -- including you -- signed the petition to demand the Work and Pensions Committee to hold Iain Duncan Smith to account for his use of government statistics on welfare.

This week the Committee announced they would do just that. Iain Duncan Smith will face questions by the Committee over his department's use of statistics. The New Statesman reported the story here.

The DWP have slipped the news out quietly, so if you are on Twitter please take a moment to spread the word about the victory.

We are really proud that we started this petition. It's often feels like politicians get away with saying whatever they like and as two disabled people affected by the benefit changes, we're fed up with the spin. By starting this petition we've shown that everyone has the tools to call politicians out if they start spinning statistics.

It's important people know this - so please share the news on Twitter. Click here.

The inquiry is set to happen in June so we'll keep the petition open until then. We both hope to attend the session and see Iain Duncan Smith face some tough questions. We'll let you know how it goes.

In the meantime - a big thank you for all your support!

Thank you

Good to see that IDS got held to account thanks to this petition. Obviously this misuse of these statistics led to his sacking and a major policy shift by the government. Strange thing though I can't for the life of me remember who the new Secretary of State is????
