Chesterfield Post Office
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:43:40 PM »
Has anyone heard if any retailer has put forward to have the post office in their shop.
I have been reading in the paper today that 200 retailers have come forward in UK - bet Tesco's is one?
What do you think?

WH Smith it is. Meanwhile, the Post Office press release doing the rounds of our local media outlets includes the following observation:

"The intention of the forum is to inform customers of the details of the proposal to move Basildon Post Office from its current location and to give more information on the potential new service."

Those poor chuffs from Essex have got a hell of a walk in front of them!

Thanks for sharing that Stuart.  :)
Do you know if they are keeping the other one, I'm wondering what the floor space is like compared to that one.

I cannot think that they're keeping the old one, too. Six tills is quite a lot when you see that the whole of Smiths only has three or four now, and I wonder if it'll actually end up going in that shop next to Smiths that seems only to open at Christmas to sell calendars. Smith's will manage the thing, though.

Isn't that one of those 'cash for gold etc' places now?

I had an email saying there are consultations with the public about the proposed premises.

Problem is - I can't find it  :-[

I notice Toby Perkins is also wanting consultations and views on it

WH Smiths seem to getting good at sub letting parts of their stores presumably in order to maintain their property portfolio for when there is an up turn in the market whilst cutting costs in the present climate. In meadowhell they've sublet to costa coffee and now to model zone as well

Do you think that is a good tactic Jon?

The Co-op had lots of concessions.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

There's going to be an up turn in the market? I wish I could share your optimism.

Apparently they are the the preferred partner and, according to their consultation paper, are going to have 6 customer positions ( >; ) not sure where they'll put them.
