Before he said "'There is always hope."
Now he says  "We don't let animals suffer, so why humans?"

He probably thought it through at last. :)
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

His life expectancy was 2 -3 years. 50 years ago  :o
Respect to the guy though. I wouldn't have liked his life style  :(

Hot topic this one.
Agree with you Fly Stephen has stuck it out and lives to tell his tale a fighter isn't he.

I know from personal experience Dr's can get it wrong about life expectancy and illness.

For some however who are left in so much pain and with no hope there has to be some percentage who says - I have had enough.

Don't blame them and if it is to be such a horrible end - I think they should be allowed to make that decision

I see he's in the news again.

God particle discovery disappointing
In a speech at London's Science Museum, the famed physicist says the Higgs boson discovery makes physics less interesting. He adds that we've only got 1,000 years left on Earth anyway.

he may well be right as well, as the earth repeatedly takes battering after battering from the elements.
Is there only me that thinks it has got worse over the last years

Here's my take on the earth. It's been here for millions of years, no one knows the life cycle of it.
The weather cycle we are currently in, say the last 2000 yrs, could have been repeated times many.

Technology and greed is killing earth. Hawking is probably right. We might not last another 1000 years.
Thankfully I'll not be here to see how it went  :P
