Firemen Strike
« on: September 26, 2013, 04:18:31 PM »
The fire service workers were on strike protesting about their pensions.

Does anyone else think like me that by raising the pension age the expectation for people to carry on working into late 60's in their original jobs is too high?

We all suffer wear and tear in some forms as we age and I suppose people with physical jobs will suffer with stamina issues and wear and tear on bones/muscle.

Is it right that companies should then have to finish their staff who have worked for them over many years, maybe aquiring their illness through work related activities.
What chance would they have to find alternative work.

Although I still do a little work I know there is no way I could go out to work full time now, I tire more easily and have my 'old age' aches and pains.

I reckon it wants putting back to what it was.
