First I have heard about this, not Chesterfield I know but looks like we could commute there when it's finished.
Information about the station, what it will include, plans and maps will be displayed on a stall at Ilkeston Market on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 November from 1pm until 4pm, at Ilkeston Library on Thursday 14 November from 5pm until 7pm and at Awsworth Village Hall on Tuesday 19 November from 4pm until 7pm. Staff working on the station will be available to answer questions. Once built, the station will mean that people in Ilkeston will be able to get the train into Nottingham, Chesterfield, Sheffield and beyond. Plans to build the train station have now been submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council, as more of the land that will be used by the station is in their area. Broxtowe will consider the application with Erewash Borough Council over the coming months. The station falls within Erewash, with the planned car park just over the county border in Broxtowe. The station will be built on land between Coronation Road and Millership Way and will include two platforms linked by a footbridge. Each platform will have a waiting shelter and will be long enough to accommodate trains with up to eight carriages. The station will include a new car park with around 150 parking spaces for cars, including disabled drivers, cyclists and motorcycles. There will be a drop off point, taxi rank and a new bus stop. The new station will support economic growth and vibrancy by: helping the town accommodate new housing promoting a more environmentally-friendly alternative to the car Costing more than £6m, the project has been led by us working with partners including train operators and Network Rail. We are putting in more than £1m and the Nottingham Housing Market Area Joint Advisory Board is also putting in £1m.
