Actually scimitar I reckon if it were able to be repaired (cost wise) the co-op would make a great indoor market/retail shopping area. Had it been viable WH Smiths could have used some of the space and implimented a post office section in there.
Surely it would have attracted more smaller businesses to come into town to trade.
Who owns the building?

I think it is owned by Midlands Co-operative Society.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

They've merged with Anglia Co-op, and are now Central England Co-op apparently.
