Sink Holes

As another sink hole appears estimated at 20 feet deep at the side of a house, I'm wondering if it's all the extra rainfall we have had that has caused them?
The pictures on the news look quite frightening and residents of the homes obviously had a lucky escape

There was a programme on about them a couple of weeks ago.

There was one in Florida (i think) last year where it was inside a house and the bloke was asleep.  The body has never been found.  Scientists put a probe in to check its state and by the time they had done that and walked back to the measuring equipment, the probe had been sucked down a couple of feet.

Very scary.  Also very weird how many are appearing.  One in the Dales, one in the middle of the M2 in Kent, more to follow i should imagine.

Isn't Chesterfield built over old mine shafts and tunnels... Eeek!!

Our house massive subsidence and its all caused by mining under the town. In fact I think most of our area is bulit over old mines.

Must admit it's a little scarey...
