Checking in on line

Has anybody ever checked in on line?We have tried it for the first time and it has been a disaster.We checked the seating plan on the plane and there was about 80% of seats available, so we decided to go ahead.However one of the seats is an isle seat  and the other one is a middle of three on another row.
Unfortunately once you have done there is no changing it.

This is with Jet2.Never again as in all the years we have been going on holiday we have always got seats together when checking in on the day.

We did this 'check in online' and pick our seats last month.
Bit of a ball ache printing the boarding passes. Think I posted this in the 2014 Jollies thread.
Have used the pick your seat for the last couple of years. Not really had a problem.

I didn't actually check in online as I check in online for the ship and they sort the airports out.


I did book the seats online though for the last hols with Delta and could change them again ( online) if I wanted.
We came back with Jet2 and I didn't bother with the seating as it was a much shorter flight. I didn't print any boarding passes off just the confirmation of seats I had chosen online.

I've checked in online for the last three trips and not had a problem (even when flying with Ryanair!!), as you say it's tedious printing the boarding passes out.

Only problem I did have was the last time (Ryanair) it wouldn't let me save the boarding passes - I always take computerised copies of all documentation on a flash drive 'just in case' (OCD I know). I got round it by scanning the printed copies into my pc.

@ Alsatian, I had our insurance docs emailed and transferred it all onto a USB port and took it with us.

Have just done the same with next years holiday info from Bolsover cruise club info.

This is away from topic but have you heard about the plans to enforce the checking in times??
