Should Nick Clegg resign leadership of LibDems?

I see the knives are out for Nick Clegg - with other LibDems indicating he should step down. Do you think he should?

One one hand they have done disastrously in the local elections.

But on the other, folks complain he didn't do enough over the last few years, when in truth the LibDems didn't have the majority in the coalition.

Is he the wrong man for the job? Will it make any difference to the LibDems future?

If he was just resigning as leader of the lib Dems then yes I suspect he would go. But he would have to resign as deputy pm as well and given that he only has one more year to go he will cling on. He will go this time next year, it's touch and go in fact if he gets re elected in Sheffield Hallam. He then probably gets the job he's wanted all along as an EU commissioner.
The problem for the lib Dems in replacing him will be that instead of doing it out of 40 odd candidates they will be doing it out of <20

After the results last night I think Nick Clegg is more likely to keep his job till next year.
Reason?
Because the Labour Party are refusing to accept that this vote was about Europe.
Fact is that the Labour Party performed badly (slacker spin it any way you like, well more accurately whichever way party Central tells you to but you did) As the main opposition to 2 opponents in an unpopular government labour should have wiped the floor with the Tories. If it hadn't been for London it would have been touch and go for who finished 3rd.
So their spin is to say that ukip was a protest vote based on the economy and other national issues. This will allow nick Clegg to turn round and say that he was the only one who fought ukip over Europe (unlike pro Europe labour who ran away) and because of that he got a kicking. He will then say that this time next year he will fight on his record on government. Now you can argue that this record will still get him a kicking but it keeps him in a job for 10 more months
