More weight loss operations for diabetes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-28246641

Do they just make these articles and stories up to gauge public reaction?

Reading the story, it seems that the vast majority of people who have Diabetes is because of their lifestyle and weight.  To me that also reads as 'get fat, get Diabetes and get a gastric band'.  Im sorry but what a pile of rubbish.

Granted there are some people who are overweight and have a medical condition that makes it difficult to lose weight but for the most part its self inflicted.

More money should be spent on promoting healthy meal options and also cutting down on the offers on ready meals (example).  How often do you see offers on chocolate bars like 2 for £1, but not as often of fruit and veg?

Some of them need a good slap and a shake and brought to reality.

My suggestion of high fat food isles about 1ft wide but healthy isles 10ft wide might be a starter
Im a bomb technician.  If you see me running, try and keep up

I am more over weight than my hubby - but he is diabetic!
We eat differently.
I enjoy fruit and healthier foods than he does, don't really bother with cake's biscuits cheese etc.
In his diet he eats ( I think ) too much of the above foods ).
I suspect some of this is what goes into the gob rather than weight!!!
