Bye eck, that looks nice OC. Think me and Our_Lass will have to visit York next year.
We were going to go this year but ended up in Hull. Not a dissapointment may I add  :)

8am hubby was up first and off to the bathroom whilst I slowly started to waken up.
I was thinking 'flipping heck, that sounds the radiators coming on  :-?
Next thing hubbies racing in for the waste bin -
Water was running down the light switch in the entrance hall to our room  :o
I jumped ( well ok crawled ) out of bed and went to look.
Grabbed some towels and the other bin out of the bathroom and was debating whether to put the towels down as they were lovely thick white ones.
Fortunately common sense took over and i realized the carpet was worth more - so down they went.

A quick call to room maintenance and the manager was in our room viewing the waterfall which was worsening  :-?  :-?

Anyway to cut a long story short after having being sent a young lady with more towels to put down and me having to delegate her ( she was just standing there looking in awe at the water. ) I sent her off to get larger bowls.

It got even worse and two large bubbles appeared on the ceiling which eventually burst  :'(

At one point we thought they may have to move us but fortunately they didn't ( also they would have had to 'down grade our room as the hotel was pretty full)

We toddled off and left them to it.

The day was initially cold and foggy but the sun did come out.
I had seen in a leaflet a place called Barley Hall which we hadn't been in, so we set off to find it.

It was a lovely place and very informative, it seems it was hidden and forgotten about for a long time.

Well worth a visit when in York.

Later because we had eaten a late breakfast we couldn't get a late Sunday roast Beef as the places we tried had sold out  :'(  :'(
We ended up with steak and chips  :(

We walked ( well ok, ok, floated back to the hotel after drinking 2 large glasses of wine  :-[ )

Hubby went in first and saw this

There was a card thanking us and also apologizing for the water incident.
We also were given 20% reduction off our stay which was about £100.00  :)  :)

Never heard of this - was it a drink?

It was drizzling with rain when we came out so we hopped on the little road train which took us up to the Minster.

Had lunch in Russels - yep - roast Beef Carvery mmmmmmmmm

I checked my emails when I got home and had received an email from the Royal York Hotel.
Again with apologies for what happened ( it was by the way a blocked pipe on the floor above )

We have been offered a further 25% off our next visit to the hotel
Well how can one refuse that  ;)

I'll bet there are others who have a Happy Ending Tale to tell??
