You don't need electric or gas to cook a meal we have been spoiled by the 'easy' life. First rule of survival is to build a shelter second make a fire matcher's not required.Theres plenty to eat from wild plants to animals like rabbits and birds prepare to kill such animal and prepare them for the fire. Boil water to drink collect rainwater. Its very much a mind over matter when your hungry you will do it.

Light a fire without matches - nearly always raining here so the sticks will be damp
mmmm don't mind berries but have to soak them in salt water first - to get the little grubs out
Only bird I like is chicken or Turkey ( white meat only)
Runs off to the shops to get a stock of tinned beans and bottled water ======================== just in case
