This made my day
« on: November 08, 2014, 05:57:16 PM »
I decided to take a slow crawl down the bypass today.
At the 'Tree' roundabout I was first to move when the lights changed to green and joined queue down the right hand lane.
Traffic was stacking up at the back of me and by the look of it were maybe sumped back around the roundabout, when a small car zoomed past us all in the left hand lane to the front.  >:(
I was muttering things I won't post on here  :-[ when in my rear mirror I noticed a large van pull out of the queue and move into the left lane. I thought he/she was going to do the same thing - only the van kept it's place in the queue but on the left side lane, and stopped any further queue jumping.  :)
Mr blue van man/woman if you are reading this post - Nice one mate  (y)

If you mean going past the college the signs clearly say "use both lanes" and "merge in turn" and the ones at fault are those who put the brakes on as soon as they leave the roundabout and try to get into lane 2 thus blocking people from getting off the roundabout. i go straight past them and merge at the front of the queue as instructed.
Also Alfreton hill has a similar problem of cars in a single queue. What don't people understand about DUAL carriageways? All of them end eventually, you wouldn't go all the way from South Normanton to Derby in 1 lane.

.

I came past cineworld and went round the tree roundabout onto the bypass.

Not so far down the bypass before traffic joins from the left it was coned off and it was right hand lane only, when I joined the traffic was at a standstill, so the car actually ignored the sign and just drove past traffic which was stood - pushing in.

Perfectly legal OC. Use both lanes, merge in turn. Why cause one lane to be 300 yards long.
Just have 2 lanes 150 yards long and people letting people in. Traffic flows faster.

Traffic was going nowhere Fly, I can only think there must have been a lot of traffic joining lower down which was holding things up. It would just have been the same had vehicles stayed in the left lane.
Anyway queue jumpers annoy me, Germans do it, Americans do it blah blah  ;)

Very large area's of scalding on tummy and leg Fly. Leg had obviously blistered and burst when I got to hers.
Lots of cold flannels later the tummy was looking calmer but the leg wasn't so good. I covered it with sterile pads and told her to press her button and ask them to send a medic out to check her out. Waiting for them to arrive.

It's NOT queue jumping. Ideally there should be 2 equal lines which merge in turn (as instructed). This way there is less likelihood of traffic backing up to the roundabout. Trust me I'm a highwayman.

So I'll just burn up the outside lane in my bus & shove in. OK? Will you let 37ft & 7 tons of bus in if I do that?

Actually i'm interested in knowing the weight of buses because the Stagecoach ones (another highwayman connection) go off-route and rat-run through our estate (7.5T weight limit) at busy times

On the 39's? - if its the proper 39 branded buses I think they are just under 7 tons, but a larger bus will possibly exceed that.Out of interest, which estate are you referring to in terms of the "off-route" bit ?
