Bakewell Bridge - ?????

Can anyone tell me what this is about on ont of the bridges in Bakewell.
From a distance I thought the bridge was decorated with the remnants of Christmas Tinsel. As it was a sunny day it sparkled.





On closer inspection it wasn't!!

Some had initials on.

What's at all about - anyone ???

Some we saw in Ibiza last October. We've seen them all over Spain this last few years.

Interesting Fly, I wonder how it began on the Bakewell Bridge.

Stating the obvious OC, people have seen them in other places in Europe and around the world and followed the trend.
Why not Bakewell, it's a lovely place for couples young and old to visit
