Public Toilets In Chesterfield

Are there any public toilets in Chesterfield which are open once the shops have closed? Or do people have to sneak into a pub to relieve themselves?

I'm asking because whilst I was in hospital recently, hubby used the buses to get to Calow hospital. Whilst in town he 'needed to go' The shops had closed !

Library. They are open until 7 I think.

Vicar Lane is open but it stinks and flooded out also vandalised rather go and p*** at the back of the tree.

Where nicheuk. I've been in the Beetwell St carpark ones, side of BHS today and they're fine. They also close when the shops are shut though.

Not the last time I went in looked a right mess.

I think they have been vandalised a time or too. The cubicles particularly.
After 7pm in my job its either a wee at the Depot, or if the bus is in town, its at the Coach Station (carefully parked & behind the bus)!!

There might be one near the bus station JR, but in theory, there's still no where to park without paying.
also I forgot, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons have toilets, but not exactly in town centre.

Hated them, always panicked in case nhey malfunctioned and I couldn't get out

One of the reasons I didn't go into town much during the last couple of years was the lack of toilets. With my prostate problems, when I needed to pee, I needed to pee now. Fortunately that's all in the past now but it did make me realise why garden centres are the favourite haunt of OAPs...

I remember a automatic toilet on Angel Street at Sheffield a lady needed to spend a penny so duly headed for the said toilet. When the required deed was done she pressed the button to open the door nothing happened so had to bang on the door to get the attention of passers by who rung the Fire Brigade who had to cut the roof off to get her out of the toilet she was a little a bit embarrassed, shortly afterwards Sheffield Council removed the toilet.

That's a problem my hubby encounters sometimes Dave, fortunately on the occasion mentioned, he wasn't that desperate.
I wonder if that's why we have stinky alleyways?
As for garden centers, I frequently go with a friend to the Tansley one.
We enjoy the carvery lunch a good natter - and then a quick visit before we browse around.
