You want b ceing this much longer williamthorpe ponds now they've stopped pumping water in 2 them such a shame
With it was a picture of Williamthorpe Pond. I asked him what was happening, he told me DCC would no longer pay for the water to be pumped into the ponds.

I posted a question on the Derbyshire Countryside FB page
Is it true that DCC will be closing Williamthorpe Ponds later this year ?
and got this response.

Hello Barry. The ponds at Williamthorpe were fed by mine water pumping. With the imminent closure of the colliery, the pumps have already been disconnected. This will gradually affect water quality and we anticipate that fishing on Williamthorpe Ponds will need to stop this winter, but we will continue to monitor water levels and quality. Only the ponds are directly affected, the woodlands, grasslands and trail around the Nature Reserve will continue to be there for visitors to use and enjoy’

The colliery has been closed for years. Do they mean that DCC can no longer, or are not going to, continue paying for the running and upkeep of the pumps ?
I await their reply.
