Matlock Bath the meca for bikers since who knows when intendeds to price bikers out of town. The proposals will see a huge increase in parking charges , bikers bring in money into Bath already either though buying at biker shops or food outlets but by increase in parking charges will stop many going each weekend so the towns trade will be hit hard. Matlock Bath without the bikers that in itself is a attraction will suffer at the loss of trade.

Have to agree with you WCT.

I used to go regularly to Matlock Bath on Sundays back in the 60's and prior to then we were taken as children for days out.

The bikers help to make Matlock Bath what it is today.

Shops here are very much seasonal and most will be struggling even more in our current 'cut backs era'

Put the shops out of business - the bikers may well find somewhere else to gather.

I think the DDC is desperate for money but they fail to realize they will kill Matlock Bath off . Love or hate them bikers bring in money madness.

But do they? They may congregate in Matlock Bath - but do they spend any money once there? And if so - what on?
I doubt they spend owt at all most of them. :P

Dont most of the bikers just park up at the side of the main road anyway where it doesnt cost anything to park? I assume they are raising the cost of parking in the car park by the station but i bet hardly any of the bikers park in there anyway.

That's right branso it will probably a timed parking though not sure about the other car parks I have only heard about the on street which will probably affect the bikers more than cars??

I'm sure the bikers do buy more than food and apart from that many people will visit Matlock Bath to see the bikes.
They are tradition and part of the culture there -
Anyone know when this 'Tradition' actually began, I know it was going in the 60's when I used to go with my biker boyfriend.
