Ever had 'one of those days' ?
« on: March 28, 2016, 07:38:58 PM »
We've had one today and the days not over yet!

First thing this morning the cat was sick - again.

I walked into the hallway and stood on some cat poop! His friggin litter tray was only inches away but he seems confused.

Cleaned that up. checked around and couldn't see any more so took myself off to get ready to go and collect daughter.

Only problem was as I was drying my hair the smell of poop got stronger, I checked under my slippers and on the upstairs carpets.
Nothing.

I called down to hubby who was vacuuming and asked if that smell was coming from the village farm.

N0 it's bleep bleep not! was the reply I got.

Now the hall carpet has a pattern on it and ----- he had got cat poop wrapped around the vacuum brushes and wheels - talk about shit spreading!

The house stank!

Big Sigh!

We cleaned up the carpet and vacuum and went to collect daughter - her automatic door wasn't working very well  >:(
Hubby toddled off to try and sort that out whilst I loaded her wheelchair into the car.

Next few hours went ok apart from getting a bit wet in Tansley.

Home having a TV dinner - when the cat puked up again right in front of us -  Great! This cooked meal didn't seem quite so appealing after cleaning cat sick up!

I give up, think I'm having an early night folks!!

Cats eh? Ours is a Maine Coon. Black & White like he's wearing a Tuxedo. Must be 10 years old now. He loves to get on my bed and gradually shoves me out the way. He weighs 14 pounds and has huge paws. He regularly eats 5 or 6 sachets of cat food a day & brings us mice, birds, rats, and even rabbits that he's killed to the back door-sometimes partly eaten. Great fun scraping up the remains.....
We love him though :D

Yeh ours is really daughters but when she moved out we felt it best he stayed with us.
He's 17 in May and on Meds for Rheumatism, has high blood pressure and slight Kidney failure.
We think it may be the Meds upsetting him as they are relatively new ones. Problem is we know they may affect his Kidney function and he needs another blood test to check if they are affecting Kidney's.
If they are - he's in a no win situation as he's in so much pain without them he can hardly walk.

He's the reason we haven't booked our normal holiday.

We may have to let him go for his long sleep if it's the meds and they can't give anything else as we are not prepared to see him in a lot of pain - it's just not right  :'(

Didn't stop me cursing him this morning when the shit was flying about though :'(  ::)

Typical lifespan is 15 - 17 years so I guess it might be kinder if it is suffering.

We took him to the vets yesterday. he had started to eat again, but I stopped giving him the Metacam medication he's on. The vet agreed with this when I told her. He had more bloods taken and the vet is also checking to make sure there is no infection anywhere as well as his Kidney function. He was so much improved when I first began giving him the Metacam, we were told there is other medication but it's in tablet form - now that's a job and a half as he's never been easy to give tablets. We have generally paid extra and had him injected lol - much easier.
Anyway - Vet to call me today when his blood results are back so will know more then.  :(

Ah the joys of pet ownership.....our 2 and a half year old labradoodle decided to start being sick and having pretty bad diarrhea a couple of days before we were going to Seahouses for the weekend a few weeks ago. Put it down to him deciding to munch on some cow pat the day before whilst out walking as its happened before but it carried on. In the end on the day we were meant to be travelling north at 10am we were in the vets at 9:30am where they said she wasnt to concerned as he didnt have a temperature, stomach felt fine etc so sent us off with some antibiotics, some stuff to squirt on his food to sort his tummy out and a bill for £50!! Thankfully he was fine on the journey up and after a couple of feeds and tablets started to return to normal although to see him hurtling about on the beach walking between Seahouses and Bamburgh you would never have thought there was anything wrong with him!

Aww bless him bransoj, what a worry for you and a 'what to do' situation. Pleased it turned out ok in the end.

The cat as scimitar says is coming to his end of life at nearly 17 he's done well - especially as he was a feral kitten we took in.
Last week hubby was mowing the lawn and laughing at the cat as he frisked around the garden.
Then wham he's got another sicky day. The third since he began on these meds.
So - I reckon it's the meds.

I'm hoping the bloods are ok and we can try other meds - he has Rheumatism, that's what's the meds are for - pain.
It would so sad to let him go just because of this condition.

If there's owt more serious then that's a different matter.

Hope your dog continues in his good health.  We bought daughter a Border Collie pup when she was 5 and the poor thing got Leukemia at 2 years old. it went through him like a dose of salts and within 2 weeks we had to put him to sleep  :(

The cats daughters actually Fly, he stayed with us when she moved out, we thought it was best because of his age.
We won't have any more pets.

Anyway Vet called me at lunch time - the cat has a bacterial infection and has been given tablets for that.
The Metacam hasn't affected his Kidney function so I can resume giving it to him.
However the Vet told me he will need another blood test in 6- 12 months as at some point it will affect his Kidney's.

For now he's OK.
Can't say the same for our bank balance  ::)
