Any anglers here?
« on: February 19, 2012, 08:12:45 PM »
Got friend coming to stay who loves fishing. As he may be here a while I thought I'd see what's available for an avid fisherman.

Anyone help?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

A friend of mine says that the Poolsbrook Country Park is ok.

Carp I think, also bream, roach, probably tench. I'm pretty sure you can fish it on a day ticket, you don't need to be a member, which is usually cheaper. If you get it touch with a local angling shop they will be able to tell you exactly how much.
Thanks for the welcome :)

Poolsbrook is day ticket, pre-bought from Cliff Maddens, Staveley, or Leegem Sheff Rd, in Chesterfield.
Staveley Canal, turn left, not veer right, as you enter the main carpark of Morrisons. Free if the baliff doesn't walk past  ;)
Carr Vale pond, Bolsover.  Is pay on the day ticket. If the baliff get's you.

There's a pond somewhere on Sheepbridge that a friend of mine is the baliff on. If I bump into him I'll ask him exactly where.
He keeps threatening to take me fishing, I keep telling him it always strikes me as being up there with paint drying but he assures me it isn't.

Any fishing in Chesterfield itself?

Walton Dam on Walton Rd.
Day ticket on the bank.
Not sure how much.

Another pond near that unit you had off Storforth Lane. McGregors, we think it's called.

Another one of those stupid questions that rears it head from time to time.
The expanse of water in Queen's Park is referred to as a lake
The expanse of water off Storforth Lane which to my way of thinking is bigger is called McGregor's Pond.
It's a duck pond but Swan Lake.
So is the differential how posh it is?
or is there a size issue?
