May I bring this to your attention and I quote from the link

"In a statement, Gatwick Airport said there was no legal requirement to remove religious headwear to establish identity in airport security areas, and that "when the Muslim lady in traditional dress passed through security no alarms activated".

How can they be sure it was a woman if she was covered?  Dont motorcyclists have to remove helmets in banks etc?  Why should Muslims be any different?  As far as I know, its not a traditional dress or religious, its something they wear if they want to.

Maybe he didn't keep his gob shut because he thinks equality works both ways. If one person is to be expected to a typical type of search, then why shouldn't another person, or are we only threatened from terrorism by white average males. Security is there for a reason, and that is not to appease some silly PC tick boxes, its there to protect us. And yet, because some idiot claims "to be offended" he is treated like a criminal.
No wonder this country is in such a f***ing mess. PC takes precedence over common sense. The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

I watched with interest in a Dubai hotel last year when a family of four entered for breakfast. The two children were dressed as children here would dress, the husband and wife in traditional dress, with the wife with veil on. The veil was removed once sat down --- so what's the difference (apart from the obvious) airport - dining room. Take em off for screening I say!

I agree too.  What if a motorcyclist went through airport security with a helmet on?  Its only the same.

Funny how much interest this largely insignificant incident generates - maybe it touches the inner racist in us.

No, either you believe in equality or you don't. Treating someone, a muslim for example, different to the rest is racist. Wanting everyone to be treated the same isn't. Or maybe its to do with general security. Or maybe its because some of us are p'd off with being made to feel like 2nd class citizens in our own country!

I don't feel like a 2nd class citizen - in fact, I know I'm a first class citizen.

There's a difference between security and passport control. Going through security they couldn't care less if you are black, white, Christian, Muslim or if you are open faced (for want of a better description) or wearing a Mickey Mouse Mask.
All they are going to check for is are you carrying anything suspicious either on your person or in hand luggage.
Passport control (aka immigration) are the ones who are going to require you to remove veils etc so that they can establish your identity.

Anyway, it's all a storm in a teacup as far as I'm concerned.

After all, they estimate that half a million people have entered the UK without being properly checked since 2007 - that puts things into perspective I think.

And just so you don't think I'm a muslim appologist, I hate the muslim religion, the way that muslims treat their women, girls and gays. I hate Saudi Arabia and all the muslim dominated countries where a woman can be stoned to death for adultery etc, whilst most men get away with it... I think it is the most evil religion on earth.
