Well spragged in it this afternoon 8) 8) 8)
-
Sorry Pete what does spragged mean?
I reckon it's wafting in from the american heatwave ------ just as the snow does 8)
Think I will sprag in it tomorrow whatever it means 8)
Not sure why I suggested a Bar B Q ( maybe it was the wine) to the girls though cost a flipping fortune this afternoon in food and booze ::)
-
Spragged out? I thought that was well known expression. As in "I was spragged out in front of the fire... ?
-
So means lying in the sun then Pete.
No sorry I haven't heard of that phrase, mind you when I met my first boyfriend many moons ago he only lived in the next village but I struggled to understand his Derbyshire slang at times had to keep asking him what he meant - nothing new there then eh! ;D
-
I think the literal meaning is "stretched".
-
Cool :!
-
I speak your language, Pete. Spragged out definitely means stretched.
Commoner!!! :D
-
Well have had a lovely day in the garden with family and Bar B Q - managed to find some time to sprag out in the hot sun with a few units of wine ^-^ 8)
Think we may just extend our hols at home ( just had a couple fo days in Newcastle) until the weather changes - just cos we can - cos it's a perk of being an old pensioner :P
-
Daughter and her husband took us to Chatsworth for a picnic yesterday - in her cabriolet with hair blowing in the wind!!
Glorious day and other now charge to park at Carlton Lees - but only £2.00 all day!
-
You have hair!! >:

A bit!!

It's been a bit hot, hasn't it? We went to Kent for the weekend as it was our first opportunity to see my parent's grave with the headstone in place so a bit emotional but it looks absolutely lovely.
Thank goodness for air conditioning in the car though, it would have been unbearable without it.

If I'm not mistaken, they've charged that for the last few years.
-
The 'new' Duke implimented it
-
Seriously thought it was before that.
-
No and it didn't go down too well - suppose people have got used. To it now
-
It was indeed the 'new' Duke. They have also massively increased the cost of a 'friends' season ticket and dont allow free parking at the House as part of the deal. According to one of my customers who works there it's a new regime of 'managers' who are advising the Duke. Badly by the sound of it
-
The car parking at calton lees is free in the week apparently , well that's what the bloke in the hut told us last December.
Not sure if that's the case in the six week holidays mind.
Also they do this on the website.
3. Car park vouchers
For the house and Calton Lees car parks:
• 20 car park vouchers in advance for £30 for the main house car park (when open) and Calton Lees.
* These car park tickets have no expiry date and do not need to be used within one season.
• 12 month car park season ticket for £50 for the main house car park (when open) and Calton Lees.
(Gold Friends membership includes free parking.)

Thanks for that balb0wa - and welcome to the forums. :)

Hi balb0wa, welcome to chesterfieldonline :)

Dave even if you can't get to their grave much at least you can now see it in your minds eye and it sounds as if it has settled you a little.
@ balb0wa welcome to the forum :)
@ Slacker the flipping cheek of them!
-
Mi dad, Just memories. In a good way though :)

How are other coping in keeping cool - registered in the 80's here.
We are living like bats - with the curtains closed - even the cat has taken to a spare bedroom with curtains closed to keep him cool (get dafter in our old age)
Putting drinks such as water in the freezer to cool them down faster as well.
How's your rabbit coping Pete?
We have the fans going when indoors as well ahhh lovely!!!
Must be uncomfortable for those who have to work in it.

He's very laid back today, sitting on the back door step hardly moving.
My missus keeps giving him a spray of cold water... I think he'll get her back... :))

The temperature max'd at 29c outside today; 24.5 inside. We're at a BBQ tomorrow, hope it's cooler.
-
Our temperature thingy on our lecky usage meter is reading 28degs, that's sat in the corner of the kitchen in the shade.
The 12" fan is on and the blinds are closed at the window cos the full sun is now beaming down on the kitchen window.
I'm not liking this heatwave one bit :(

We are having a BBQ tomorrow as well Dave not too sure how much shade there will be - phew!
@ Fly Taxing all day must be tiring and very hot, been to daughters this evening - i thought her cat was dead - just lying there sonked out poor thing the heats getting to him as well as Pete's rabbit he's ok though had his supper and in for the night now.
-
We don't work weekends OC
Called at Mag's mums this afternoon, before my mums and the window thing.
I was sat under the hedge in the shade, (at her mum's) 8)
Imagine me cleaning up the glass in mum's conservatory :(
God help me if this continues into next week.
Bright side, I'll lose weight. I can't face food in these temperatures.
One of the reasons we went away in April this year. Cooler !
-
It's giving 75f - 79f next week for us so prepare to sweat - always time to change their minds though.
Agree with you about eating - problem is we keep having a can aof lager at nights something we don't normally do, infact we don't 'normally' drink for weeks on end, so not good is it ::)

I'm sure most of us know the advice on this link but thought I would post it.
