It was indeed the 'new' Duke. They have also massively increased the cost of a 'friends' season ticket and dont allow free parking at the House as part of the deal. According to one of my customers who works there it's a new regime of 'managers' who are advising the Duke. Badly by the sound of it

The car parking at calton lees is free in the week apparently , well that's what the bloke in the hut told us last December.

Not sure if that's the case in the six week holidays mind.

Also they do this on the website.

3. Car park vouchers
For the house and Calton Lees car parks:

• 20 car park vouchers in advance for £30 for the main house car park (when open) and Calton Lees.

* These car park tickets have no expiry date and do not need to be used within one season.

• 12 month car park season ticket for £50 for the main house car park (when open) and Calton Lees.
(Gold Friends membership includes free parking.)

It's been a bit hot, hasn't it? We went to Kent for the weekend as it was our first opportunity to see my parent's grave with the headstone in place so a bit emotional but it looks absolutely lovely.

Thank goodness for air conditioning in the car though, it would have been unbearable without it.

Dave even if you can't get to their grave much at least you can now see it in your minds eye and it sounds as if it has settled you a little.

@ balb0wa welcome to the forum  :)

How are other coping in keeping cool - registered in the 80's here.
We are living like bats - with the curtains closed - even the cat has taken to a spare bedroom with curtains closed to keep him cool (get dafter in our old age)
Putting drinks such as water in the freezer to cool them down faster as well.
How's your rabbit coping Pete?
We have the fans going when indoors as well ahhh lovely!!!
Must be uncomfortable for those who have to work in it.

He's very laid back today, sitting on the back door step hardly moving.

My missus keeps giving him a spray of cold water... I think he'll get her back...  :))

The temperature max'd at 29c outside today; 24.5 inside. We're at a BBQ tomorrow, hope it's cooler.

Our temperature thingy on our lecky usage meter is reading 28degs, that's sat in the corner of the kitchen in the shade.
The 12" fan is on and the blinds are closed at the window cos the full sun is now beaming down on the kitchen window.

I'm not liking this heatwave one bit  :(

We don't work weekends OC
Called at Mag's mums this afternoon, before my mums and the window thing.
I was sat under the hedge in the shade, (at her mum's)  8)
Imagine me cleaning up the glass in mum's conservatory  :(
God help me if this continues into next week.

Bright side, I'll lose weight. I can't face food in these temperatures.
One of the reasons we went away in April this year. Cooler !
