Its about time they had some kind of lesson.  I also think they should have some kind of registration plate as they use the roads.

We had an incident a couple of weeks ago at one of our buildings where an old bloke was on a mobility scooter and ran into a pane of glass.

I thought that the scooters that were SUPPOSED to use the roads, and therefore have to be road-legal, did have a registration plate. It's the ones that wander on and off roads that shouldn't be there in the first place AFAIK.

Electric powered vehicles don't need any regular car criteria, tax, mot etc.
Perhaps they should  :-\

A few days ago I read that able-bodied people are buying them for short shopping trips as they're cheaper than using a car.

Apparently 'class 3' scooters - which are allowed to use the road - should display a 'nil duty paid' tax disc, which is what I must have seen on the one I was referring to - and he/she must just have fancied having number plates as well!

Scooters other than 'class 3' are only allowed to use the road for crossing from one pavement to the other - perhaps scooter riders/drivers need to be reminded of this from time to time!
