On the BBC News web site. Bit of a cock up getting her into a hospital, I believe she was turned away from A&E at first  >:(

@Dave, yes, seen it in the article.
@Cchris, good points, we still don't drink tap water in Spain.
We boil it for tea in the mornings though  :)

I once had my ankle swell to the size of my thigh whilst on hols in Turkey.
Mosquito probably, but we were coming home the day after.
Saw my own doctor next day and sorted. Made a point of seeing him though  ;)
Plus we had already suffered one 'Emergency Incident' during the hols when the wife collapsed one night and had flashing blues to the local hospital  :(

Reason I mentioned the wife's incident.
'NEVER' go abroad without insurance. The hospital overnight stay for Our_Lass was £1000 for argument's sake.
And they wouldn't let us leave the room till the insurance company had phoned back to confirm they would pay !!

@ Fly -- blimey yes insurance is a must when going abroad

Mozzies always tend to feed off me and I get chunks of ice from the bar and rub it around the bite - it freezes to poison.

Four of us went to Benidorm t'other month - and it was only my daughter who got bitten, and how!!  :o

We'd been there two weeks. One of the 'bar staff' had been good with us for the time we'd been there.
He'd bring us fresh drinks without even asking in the evening. Obviously we'd drop him a couple of Lira  ;)
Yes I might be accused of abusing slave labour, but at least I'm not taking the piss out of poeple who have so little !
When I asked him for some ice. He brought me a carrier bag full  :))

I dropped him a 5 note as we left for the coach. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou !!!
Then he looked at the note, UK GBP £5, not 5 Turkish Lira, about a weeks wage  ;)
