Ashgate Hospice, what bit am I missing. Please read ;-)
« on: June 15, 2012, 08:50:21 PM »
Why is Ashgate Hospice run as a charity ?
Today's news says the Bank Of England are going to plough TENS of Billions into the Uk banks.
Can't they donate .01% of this into the NHS or places like Ashgate Hospice ?.

I can't believe this country we live in, can't give the support to people who need it like Ashgate do.
Why can't the Gov?Country provide similiar care etc.

They supply so much but the Hospice have to make up the shortfall. Which is why they organise things like the Midnight Walk. Which is why I give up a nights sleep to help.

It shouldn't be up to us to volunteer. Shouldn't the country, as such, pay for the care needed ?

You're right it shouldn't in the same way as it shouldn't need a thousand women dressed in pink running roud Chesterfield to help fund Cancer Research but it does.
But successive Governments figure we will be daft enough to do these things but won't put our hands in our pockets to bail out banks, fund wars or snoop on e mails.

Just checked their website. It costs £4.5m to run the Hospice and they have to raise £2.8m a year

I wish I had the answer to that one Chris  :(
What ever I suggest could be argued by someone.

How much of the tax payers money has gone into the Olympics ?
Yes we all have to pay tax, but don't get the option of where it's spent.

So in order to fund all the stuff that we would love to see funded, what should we cut back on?  :(

Stop stealing my lines!!  ;D
But the original post was about the tens of billions being used to prop up the economy which if we all agreed to it wouldn't matter one iota.
