Homophobia in DT letters
« on: June 20, 2012, 09:53:12 PM »
Started off as a comment about Elton John concert an ended up as a homophobic rant by a bible basher. Son'y think it's on the DT website yet but I'm sure it will provoke replies.

The letter's on page 8. Complains that people paid to watch a guy sing songs he wrote 40 years ago. And Charles Wesley wrote "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" just the other week, I suppose. Not overt homophobia, as I read it, but plenty of religious tosh and warnings as the the hellfire and damnation that awaits anyone who might be tempted to go round shagging a member of the same sex.

I bought it, I read it, he's a nutter.

I'm surprised they ran it.

Not worth getting your knickers in a twist about, if you ask me.

I think the DT is getting more dependent on interaction rather than reporters whether it be the letters page, Facebook or Twitter
