George Osborne is now Government's most disliked MP
« on: August 28, 2012, 04:10:31 PM »
George Osborne is now Government's most disliked MP as half of voters say they want to see Chancellor sacked

"Mr Osborne has taken over from beleaguered Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg at the bottom of a damning popularity league that ranks how much the public like the cabinet.

The Deputy Prime Minister has a rating of minus 26 compared to his Treasury colleague's minus 32, the Guardian/ICM study found."

Should have listened to me - I've been saying that for nearly two years...

Yep, but some of us base our judgements on policies rather than the fact that he went to a posh school and had a posh up-bringing.

I don't understand. I've read the article again and I can't find any reference to a "posh school and had a posh up-bringing".

Osborne was elected a Tory and is behaving like one, Clegg has gone more against what his supporters voted for

"ICM Research interviewed a random sample of 1006 adults aged 18+ by telephone on 24-26th August 2012. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to the profile of all adults. ICM is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules."

Do you think the majority of those contacted were "fully subscribed member of the guardian fan club, on a final salary scheme, screwing the benefits system, paying for my entire worldly goods on the tick and of the opinion that everyone else can pay for it, especially the bankers,"?

There was a similar poll recently of either Conservative Party Members or MPs, not sure which, who were split 50/50 on him. I'll try and find it out.

I'll take the, "I'm alright Jack", approach on this one. I know sod all about George or his background.
What I don't have is loads of loans I'm struggling to pay.
We love 'buy now pay later 0% interest free'. Difference is, we wouldn't buy, if we didn't have the money there and then.
Sooner have the money in the bank for six month, just in case something crops up.

Back to George, surely he's only doing what the party want him to do, just like CaMORON, he's just the front face.

Bit like Thatcher, hate her with vengance, but she didn't make every decision, the tory party did, or is it the bunch of non elected peeriages? in the other room. Do they actually change, regardless who's in No 10 ? Yes, that's a question  ;)

I wasn't referring to the article, I was referring to some of your earlier posts.

Polls/statistics can be shown to do all sorts of things.
At the end of the day, it depends on who was asking what/where/independantly/or not.
Any statistician can provide figures to support their cause.
It depends on how the questions were asked in the poll-loaded or not in one way or the other.
I mistrust politicians full stop.
They have constantly let us down/mislead us with manifestos, and not delivered what they promised.
And continue to do so.
George Osbourne is just another statistic - as I'm sure we all are >:(

Why don't you just contribute to the discussion?

Why don't you just contribute to the discussion?

(You could slide a few personal insults in if you were really clever.)

If you were really clever you would present an arguement based on facts rather than "class war".

I've said many times that I'm not a fan of Cameron / Osbourne.
When they first formed a Govt they proposed massive cuts in public spending, but remained popular, more so than Labour. The public knew what was needed and was prepared to accept it in the hope that the economy would turnaround, (and then hopefully there would be tax cuts, etc).
As Jon as pointed out above, the cuts haven't happened. Spending has increased, there has been U turn after U turn, and nothing has been achieved economically in the past 2 years.
Those "Tory bashers" like you Pete, don't like Osbourne, but you didn't then either.
The reason his popularity has fallen is because those who did like him, don't anymore, including many in his own party, and many business leaders who offered public support early days. Osbourne has failed because he hasn't done what he said he would. And if you are daft enough to think that its "cuts" thats causing the recession, then thats your own stupid fault for believing the nonsense in the Gaurdian.

And as for contributing to the debate, maybe I didn't contribute earlier because my business seems to be busier than yours and have been working for over 12hours non stop today, so had better things to do when you posted...or maybe its just that your repeated Tory bashing is boring.

As I said earlier, I have no problem with knocking Cameron / Osbourne because of their failed policies....but your constant knocking of the "posh boys" is simple bollocks really, so nothing to debate. I've said it before, and I'll say it again..if you want debate, stick to facts...not bigotry.
