Any idea why words (or pairs of words) get underlined on the boards?

Can you give us an example. Mine underlines certain words, but then i've got a 3rd party spell checker running in the background :)

Maybe it's my computer rather than the boards. Don't mean spell check but clickable links come up that take me to an advert. "dog lovers" came up in this one (no it wasn't a bestiality link")

Dogslost is good for getting the message out and drawing attention to other dog lovers to look out for missing dogs in the area and has been successful in helping owners find their pets; maybe it just says reunited to close the case. Maybe they are relieved there is closure rather than not knowing where the dog got to, different people react in different ways.

Do you see this on other websites? Or is it just here?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Are you using Chrome?

If you hover over the word do you get an advert?

If so, you need to disable an addon within Chrome settings.  I had the same issue and its cleared now.
