We moved out of Brunswick Street on the 2nd of September 1967 (the last people to move) and moved up the road to Gloucester Road, moving most of the furniture on an old Silver Cross Pram. Mrs L Holmes was grandads sister in law. She moved to Brockwell when the houses got knocked down for the new bus depot. She moved to the row of houses that leads to the reservoir off Brockwell Lane just a few doors up from where grandmas brother lived. Apart from that I can't tell you anything else excepting that just below the entrance to the row of houses was the best fish and chip shop in town. The houses had to be demolished, none of us had indoor toilets or hot water (except for gas geysers) in fact our toilet didn't even flush, there was a huge tank at the end of the line of toilets that used to fill up by running water and when it was full it used to overbalance and flush a line of about 12 toilets, we used to have great fun on a Sunday morning when all the men were reading the papers sat on the loo and just when the tank was full putting lit paper soaked in oil into it causing all the toilets to be filled with black smoke.
