Done another BP test today, were both in the ideal range.
Think the machine might have been lying the other day  :)

Also been on the scales for a weekly weigh in. Both about 4lb up from last Sunday  :-?

"For anyone out there who hasn't had their blood pressure checked recently then i urge you to do so."

Cannot agree more, went to work 7th of November and fainted.
Ambulance turned up and I spent over a week in Northern General in Sheffield.
Blood pressure 183/144.
I didn't want to go to hospital but work made me, best thing that ever happened to me.
They told me that if I had left it I would be in this weeks head and shoulders in the Times.
Outcome! Diagnosed with
Low blood sugar
High colesteral
Fatty liver (booze!!!)
Gallstones
Tumor on lung (fags)
Hopefully all caught in time.

Sorry to have left it so long but as you can guess been too tied up. Hope your missus is o'k.
Take her away for Christmas and smother her with love.

We bought a BP machine from Boots as a result of Wife's visit to hospital.Proper one that fits around your upper arm.
I thought there was no way that mine would be normal. I drink, smoke, don't have a car so I walk a lot,and I know I've lost some weight because my work trousers are too big around the waist.
Turns out my BP is fine. Tried it several times and can't believe it. Must be down to the weight loss, although a doctor would probably still say I'm overweight.
We don't have any scales in our house - you can't trust them anyway.
Fortunately my wife has avoided a stroke from a simple nosebleed that would not stop.

Just checked mine and Our_Lass's BP.
Me, 133/94.
Her, 142/93
First time the unit has been used for about 2 years, and only cost a tenner off Ebay.
So it's just a taken with a pinch of salt.

Me, fat fecker, but walks everywhere, just done 127/75.
I had to be on medication to pass my last bus medical.
Seems I'm ok now without medication.
@Fly you need a proper moniter that fits on your upper arm - the one we got is exactly like the doctors use and it was £30 from Boots the chemists - so its a reputable machine from a reputable retailer.

Glad to hear you are OK (ish) mate, although I guess those honestly revealed diagnoses mean some serious lifestyle changes for you if you want to stay alive.
Thanks for your best wishes to my Wife - she's a lot better and back at work.
I only hope I dont fall in to your category, because I like a drink,a smoke, etc, probably in excess by my own admission-guilty as charged.
At the time of writing this my BP is 136/80 -heart rate 73. And I've had a drink or 7,cos I'm off work tomorrow.
Best Wishes Mate

I suggest everybody gets a blood pressure machine.  O'k they are not accurate but they give an indication.
From what I was told whilst in hospital a high blood pressure is not an isolated incident but an indication of an underlying problem, wether it being stress or booze or fags or something more serious.
What will you spend? a few quid at Boots, or a space in the morgue.

Just got back from the Northern General in sheffield after being pumped with radioactive stuff and put into a PET scanner.
The consultant told me (again) that your blood pressure is an indication that something is wrong
Buy a machine.
