Yes we used to walk to school in heavy snow years ago the only reason i can think of was our teachers mostly lived in walking distance to the school itself.
I intend to live forever. So far, so good - But, too many Birthdays can kill you.

I think the nursery at the school was open, and the only reason they sent the texts out was when the snow was heavy, had it of continued then they would have thought about ringing parents it didn't so they didnt. Hence i picked her up at 3:20 :D :D

Years back, most people didn't rely on cars, kids walked.
I can't do my job when all these other people are clogging up the roads with their dodgy winter driving  >;

Not heard any buses around - have they stopped running? Hubby opened gates and says road is icy. Pleased daughter doesn't live too far as I'm doing her care again today.

What is it with schools shutting or not opening etc when we have half an inch of snow...  What a joke.

Claims culture, Chris. Some would rather fall over and blame someone than take responsibility for themselves. Bought these stud things to go over boots a couple of years ago mainly for walking dogs in ice and snow and don't slip one bit.
