Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce jailed 8 month apiece.

Bet they weren't expecting that  :D
I wasn't. I expected them to get a few weeks slapped wrists. Saying that though, he had previously denied it in court.

That's what you get when you tell porkies to the police and then get found out...

Take 'em down!

Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce have just been sentenced to 8 months each today for perverting the course of justice.

Chris was seen asking his ex-wife immediately after, if she would do the sentence for him.  :))

Not withstanding the 'bigger' picture, this being one of our so called political masters whose had a fall from grace, the interesting thing for me is, does this make Mr and Mrs Average more or less likely to do this in the future.
You could argue less likely because of where they ended up but the fact remaines that had Pryce kept quiet they would never have been caught so if wronged wife figures she might end up in jail too does she now keep quiet and not look for revenge for an affair?
And if Mr Average thinks that the court is not going to allow marital coercion as a defence he figures he's on a winner.
Interesting one.

I think in future, more people will think before opening their gobs.
Saying that, after watching Pete's link to that yanks video, maybe not.

It annoys mi that for some of the worst cases of animal cruelty the maximum sentence seems to be about half of that.

I think a heavy fine and community service would have been adequate. Apparently the prosecution cost tens of thousands so  would hope the defendants are paying costs.

Message is that if you're going to lie, stick with it.

A bit similar in a way to the guy who's just been sent down for nicking a Securicor van about 20 years ago with a £1M in it and absconding to USA. He got caught because his son's jilted partner grassed him up.

The difference being she probably did it for the money. Pryce did it for revenge but has ended up in the same place.

A lot of people who "couldn't remember" who was driving when caught will probably be feeling a bit relieved that they've got off lightly

Seems they may only get up to 4 months - then packed off home to be inprisoned there

They've been let out - 62 days into an eight month sentence. Poor things...

on one hand have they got off lightly only serving 62 days?
But on the other they are hardly a danger to society so why the hell should we pay for their bed and board for the next 4 months. I'd say as long as they have to meet some onerous conditions like a curfew or having to report to a police station 20 miles from home every Friday night at 8 o'clock I figure its best to let them out.
