Royal Mail and parcels
« on: August 17, 2013, 01:01:22 PM »
If Parcel Force can't deliver a parcel they take it to your nearest past office, courier firms will generally find somewhere to leave it but Royal Mail take it back to West Bars.

This is irritating as the opening hours are limited, parking is hopeless and you could live out at Clay Cross or similar distance.

I wonder if they could be a trusted neighbour ,next door or close that could be added to the parcels address to save this happening .

In the past some of my work came through the post and agree it was a pain to have to keep going into town when I missed the van, unfortunately it couldn't be left with anyone else because of contents.
Eventually the driver got to know that if the car wasn't in the drive - not to bother calling and he would 'bless his little cotton socks' call back later with a hope of catching me in before taking it to town.

I like the idea of a 'trusted neighbour' being added to the drop off list handy

Royal Mail (Letters) already do the 'trusted neighbour' thing, but Parcelforce (or Porcelfarce as we used to call them) were a different entity and played by their own rules - not sure if that's still the case.

I agree about the tiny car parking space at the sorting office - but that's exacerbated by the lazy ar$es that can't be bothered to walk twenty yards! Next time you see traffic spilling out onto West Bars from there see how many spaces there are on West Bars itself (or on Wickes' car park!  ::)).

Can't you arrange for it to be redelivered at a time when you're in?

I think you can pay extra for before 9am ( we do at work) but after that I would be down to the driver on the way he worked his route I reckon.

I have had and signed for parcels not for me in the past not just by royal mail but by other companies, find it moreso near Christmas when people are getting presents etc delievered...I dont mind taking stuff in to be honest and i know others have done the same for us.
However do agree with the little poxy office, Some parcels for me have been delivered to main post office in town rather than the sorting office and then for the first time ever had to prove my identitty"
