Well I've got the cable but......,,,,,,,
By way of explanation. I've got an old PC upstairs which I'm looking to ditch. Trouble is the monitor doesn't work so I can't check if there's anything on there I still need. So I've acquired a new screen for a while. Which needed a cable because the old one was hard wired. So Fly very kindly lent me a cable. But when I plug it in I just get an error message on the monitor screen of disconnected. Then I had the idea that maybe the I/o card was screwed. So I plugged new monitor into laptop. Same results but when I plug the old monitor into the laptop it knows it's there but obviously doesn't display anything because the monitor is screwed. So now I'm at a loss to figure out what to do next!!! Ideas??????

Jon, if you don't get sorted just take the hard drive out and give it to me. I can retrieve data from a PC on my Dell. Then you can decide if there is anything worth saving.

I did mums late husbands computer and retreived 1500 photo's from it.
There were other things, emails etc, but nowt worth saving. It hadn't been used for the best part of 3 years.
