Headteachers slam faith school travel plans
« on: October 15, 2013, 04:00:23 PM »
Derbyshire County Council has launched talks on proposals to scrap funding for transport to religious schools.

If the plans are approved, pupils who currently attend a faith school would have to organise their own transport – saving the authority £1m a year.

And so they should. Why should taxpayers subsidise parents who want to send their kids to a religious school?

I didn't realise either that the journey's were funded, I wonder how long that has been happening years I suppose.
I don't see why they should get freebies to a Christian School whilst others have to pay either - so I agree with stopping it.

As Fly highlighted not so long ago transport to schools (special needs) can be hit and miss as to what is paid for by parents.
The injustice to me is that some parents seem to get all the help whilst others are told their DLA will pay for it.
Needs right across the board sorting so all parents with special needs children who are in receipt of DLA pay a portion not just some.
Hope DCC are reading this.
