Brace yourselves for the Storm of St Jude

Residents in Derbyshire are being warned to “batten down the hatches” as a huge storm approaches.

Torrential rain and gusts of up to 70mph are set to strike on Monday as the Storm of St Jude sweeps the country.

Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel, said: “These winds may bring down trees and cause structural damage, so batten down the hatches.”

But experts conceded the predicted path of the storm is uncertain, and it could potentially hit the north of the country, or pass through France and miss England altogether.
